Our theme, Rise Up! will guide us in our worship, our breakout sessions, and our conversations. Our time will be animated by the following scripture:
The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a woman mixes a little yeast into three big batches of flour. Finally, all the dough rises.
Matthew 13:33 (CEV)
We are pleased to welcome two proclaimers, Rev. Mandy England Cole, Program Associate for The Bridge at UPSem, Richmond, VA and Rev. Dr. Art Wright, senior pastor, Williamsburg Baptist Church, Williamsburg, VA.
Our breakout sessions will be led by Rev. Melissa Fallen, Pastor of Glen Allen Baptist Church, and Marco A. Grimaldo, Strategist for National Church Partners And Latino Communities for Bread for the World.
“Soul Care: Nurturing Physical and Spiritual Health”
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you recognize yourself as one who is fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the Universe? How can you nurture healthy spiritual and physical practices to celebrate and honor the body you have? Join us for this session as Melissa Fallen will guide us through some practical exercises to help us care for our spiritual and physical health.
“Bread for the World: Nourish our Future”
Join Bread for the World for a listening session about hunger and its impact on children and families. The good news is that as a nation, we know what needs to be done to end hunger, at least among children. The real question is whether we will choose to do so. This session will invite you to reflect and share about how hunger impacts your community and we will review some of the potential policy changes that would make things better like support for WIC, the Child Tax Credit and Summer meals. Finally we will offer you ways to join Bread and other advocates in calling for change.
